Mission
The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization officially formed in May of 2009. The Foundation was formed out of many smaller organizations and volunteers throughout the country that have been active in supporting patients and families of pancreatic cancer since 2004. The primary purpose of the organization is to provide direct service to those individuals afflicted with pancreatic cancer and support for their families while providing the impetus to support early detection and preventative methods for this deadly disease.

Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth leading cancer killer and is the only one of the four that is not curable in one form or another. In the last five years over 210,000 individuals have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and approximately 193,000 or 92% of those lost their battle during the first year. Only 5% of those afflicted with this deadly disease survive to the fifth year and only 3% survive beyond and eventually succumb to this devastating disease. The lack of funding for early detection methods, preventative measures, education and research is the main cause for the high mortality rate during the first year. While the lack of knowledge of this deadly disease among health care providers has been astonishing, even more so is the absence of early detection and preventative methods available. With the absence of early detection, once diagnosed, many physicians send the patient home and say “there is nothing we can do”. Well, we can do something to help provide a better quality of life by providing Hope through your support and others, Courage to fight on and take a stand against this deadly disease and Faith to believe there will be a cure
